Google is capitalising on burgeoning demand for its YouTube video service, now visited by some 800m visitors per month, with the announcement that it has launched a new online Merch store.

The platform will allow music partners to sell merchandise, downloads and tickets directly from the video sharing site by offering products directly related to hosted clips.

YouTube is partnering with a number of industry heavyweights to power the new system – notably iTunes and Amazon for music downloads and SongKick for concert tickets.
