The Times sees 10% rise in digital subscription
The Times has reported a 10% rise in digital subscribers for its online product in the past three months. The Sunday Times enjoyed a similar rise over the same period.
However, overall take-up remains underwhelming. Just over 110,000 people have subscribed to The Times since the paywall was introduced in July 2010; around 105,000 for The Sunday Times. And digital gains have been offset by a like for like fall in print sales.
Figures released for The Times print run show a 10,000 drop in circulation over the three months to June 2011.
The rate of digital subscription is also slowing: 3,000 a month signed up during the last quarter, compared to 7,000 a month for the preceding period.
