California declares October 16 Steve Jobs day

California’s governor, Jerry Brown, has declared that October 16, the day Apple holds a memorial service at Stanford University for its former head Steve Jobs, will be a state wide day of remembrance.

Revealing his decision in a Twitter statement to his 1m followers Brown tweeted: “This Sunday will be Steve Jobs Day in the State of California.”

Fans worldwide have been celebrating the life and achievements of Jobs since his passing on October 5, including leaving half bitten apples at the doors of Apple stores.
