California’s governor, Jerry Brown, has declared that October 16, the day Apple holds a memorial service at Stanford University for its former head Steve Jobs, will be a state wide day of remembrance.

Revealing his decision in a Twitter statement to his 1m followers Brown tweeted: “This Sunday will be Steve Jobs Day in the State of California.”
