Marketing Leeds has enlisted Jean Dent to head up the organisation on an interim basis until it can find a new chief executive.

The former development director of Leeds City Council will take the helm at Marketing Leeds for one day a week once current chief executive Deborah Green stands down on 14 October.

Marketing Leeds said in a statement: "The Marketing Leeds board has approved interim executive arrangements to take effect from October 14. Current non-executive director Jean Dent will provide interim executive support with particular responsibility for finance and governance until a new chief executive is appointed. An announcement is expected shortly.

"Jean has been a non-executive director of Marketing Leeds since 2006 and will work one day a week for Marketing Leeds alongside the existing senior team. Jean will also provide an executive representation at key events. Jean will be reimbursed for the cost of her time undertaking this interim role."

Last month Marketing Leeds announced that Asda chief executive Andy Clarke would be its new chair.
