Emirates Airlines will be the first brand to appear on the London Tube map, following a £36m deal brokered by Starcom’s sport sponsorship division, SMG Sports.

The 10 year deal will see the new cable car, launched today at the O2 in Greenwich, branded the Emirates Air Line.

The car will run across the River Thames from the O2 in Greenwich, to Royal Victoria Docks by the ExCel centre.

The creative, including the public naming of the transport, has been handled by Publicis Chemistry, and will see both terminals carry the Emirates name becoming 'Emirates Royal Docks', on the North side and 'Emirates Greenwich Peninsula' on the South side.

The London tube map is distributed to over 25 million people and the branded stations will also be on the website and station maps across the entire network.

Around 34 cabins running across the Thames, each carrying up to ten people.
