Danny Baker’s radio show is to be axed under the BBC cuts, the presenter has announced through Twitter.

Following yesterday’s budget cuts announcement, which will see around 2,000 people lose their jobs over the next five years, while all services have been protected, Baker’s daily afternoon BBC London programme is another casualty of the cull.

In a message this morning, Baker tweeted: “So the BBC London afternoon show - current Sony Gold Holder - is to be part of the Delivering Quality First cuts. The logic of Genius.”

He followed this up by tweeting “Nothing like having your show axed under an initiative called Delivering Quality First to let you know how valued you are.”

Baker has presented the show for three years, picking up a Sony Award during that time.
