The Scotsman has appointed Stephen Emerson as editor of Scotsman.com, with a beta edition of the new Scotsman website launched yesterday.

Stephen Emerson said on Twitter: “Delighted to be appointed scotsman.com editor. Great team, great papers and exciting plans ahead for the site.”

The new Scotsman website features enhanced search functionality, with "improved navigation to allow users to more easily click through the latest from The Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday and Edinburgh Evening News".

A reshuffle of staff at the Edinburgh Evening News has also been announced, with Alan Young taking the role of head of content from Monday, with Simon Lyle being promoted to Young’s old post of news editor.

It has also been announced that the Scotsman Publication’s free Edinburgh newspaper, Edinburgh Herald & Post, is to close, with editor Helen Martin to move to Edinburgh Evening News.
