Facebook is to introduce a new format of interactive advertising which will expand its screen real estate in relation to the number of your friends who “like” the brand.
Containing an advertiser message, the ad will allow comments to be posted alongside comments posted by other users – according to Mashable.
Set to be announced during Advertising Week in New York, the format will take the form of a sponsored posting promoting specific products, such as the George Clooney thriller Ides of March in this mock-up.
The latest salvo in the lucrative social advertising space joins a clutch of similar themes including sponsored stories and social ads.
All are born out of a belief that ads with recommendations from friends carry more clout than standard display ads.
