Donald Martin, DC Thomson's editor-in-chief for its Dundee-based titles, has had his role extended to also include the newspaper publisher's Aberdeen titles.

Currently Martin is responsible for The Courier, Evening Telegraph, The Weekly News and The Sunday Post , but in the newly-created role of editor-in-chief of DC Thomson Newspaper Group he will also oversee Press & Journal, Aberdeen Evening Express and Aberdeen Citizen.

Ellis Watson, who was earlier this month appointed MD of DC Thomson Newspaper Group, told staff that the structural change "will ensure that each title benefits from a more cohesive and collective approach across the group".

Watson continued: "Donald will work with all of our title editors, who will retain control of their newspapers and teams, in a co-ordinating role, assisting in leveraging the skills and benefits of the group as a whole.

"Donald has already added great value to our four Dundee titles - this change means we can look forward to him doing so across the whole DC Thomson Newspaper Group."
