The City of Edinburgh Council faced backlash from its 24 hour #whatwedo Twitter campaign, after residents started their own hashtag: #whatwecantdo.

Edinburgh was one of 28 councils involved in the project, which was designed to inform the public about what the councils get up to.

Replies from the public included a tweeter saying ‘Does that mean you "knock off" at 4pm? Typical public servants!’ in response to the council’s tweet: ‘Customer Services are here to answer your queries until 4 pm’. The council then replied that another team was taking over at four.
