Social Buzz nominees announced to highlight the best in social media marketing

The nominations for the inaugural social media awards - the Social Buzz Awards - have been announced.

The Social Buzz Awards aim to recognise and reward the best use of social media within marketing and promotional sectors.

Nominated for Social Media Team/Individual of the Year are 1000heads, Seventy Seven PR and Umpf while nominated in the Best Use of Twitter category are agencies Brando, LBi, Opta, Pancentric Digital, and Umpf for clients such as Three, Social Media Week, Opta, Kew Gardens and Belling respectively, while the inhouse team for Wateraid also has a nomination in this field.

Yesterday it was announced that the awards ceremony would take place at Wembley Stadium in London, while some of the judging panel shared their thoughts on the future of social media during Social Media Week.

The judging panel, chaired by Paul Farbetti, now digital director at Brazen, included social media trainer Rene Looper, Chris Jones, social media manager at BBC, Colin Gilchrist, social media strategy planning and training director at Digital Face, Paul Fabretti, director of digital strategy, at Origin Creative Design, Phil Adams, planning director at Blonde Digital, Dave Coplin, director of search, UK at Microsoft, Jeff Coghlan, managing director at Matmi and Zoe Macerlean, social media manager at Tesco.com.
