Scottish internet start-up Bizmunky aims to take on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter when it launches tomorrow.

Set up and financed by Ross Hardie, a sales and training professional, and Ed Cochrane, who works in the University of Edinburgh's business school, the site will launch at Glasgow's Corinthian Club.

It pitches itself as being for the ‘younger professional’, combining social networking and e-learning. It will include a mix of video and audio chat; social interaction; dedicated content and e-learning facility; accompanied by a download store which has been nicknamed the "i-tunes of e-learning".

Hardie said the business will eventually have access to learning and training content provided by external coaches and trainers, who would receive "incremental income" through any downloading.

Harde told the Scotsman: “We would like to think that we can give Facebook a bit of a fright over time. I genuinely believe this could be a global phenomenon.”
