Microsoft is adding a new events planning feature to its Bing search engine in an effort to get one up on market leader Google.

Bing Events will allow people to better plan their nights out with a social planning tool activated when a user searches for a venue or artist along with the word ‘event’ and clicking on an events tab.

Some 90,000 events in over 10,000 venues are covered throughout the UK and are listed in accordance with date and event category – alongside data on directions, restaurant and parking.

Bing will also copy Google’s popular doodle by introducing a customised moving image on its homepage whenever “the mood strikes us”.
