BBC apologises for Breakfast F-word slip up
BBC Breakfast viewers have received an apology from Bill Turnbull, the show’s presenter, after one of their guests turned the airwaves blue with a four letter slip up.
Nicolas Winding Refn had been invited onto the show to discuss his latest directorial effort, Drive, an effort which he surmised succinctly as about “f***ing”.
Shocked by the uncouth language Turnbull politely requested that Rehn: “try and make the point without using that word”.
Rehn promptly apologised himself and continued: “Oh right. The violence is very much part of the sexual build-up. Violence in itself in the movie is an ¬illusion, it’s unbelievable.
“The job is to make it believable. When you do that, the build-up is about sex.”
Following the interview the BBC said in a statement: “Unfortunately a guest used a swear word during a live interview. Bill Turnbull immediately ¬challenged his language and both presenters apologised to viewers.
“There was a further apology at the end of the programme. We are sorry if anyone was offended.”
