Sony updates terms of service to bar users from launching class lawsuits
Sony has updated the terms of service on its popular online PlayStation Network to bar users form launching any future lawsuits.
A newly inserted clause into the 12th iteration of Sony’s small print states that any dispute must be actioned on an individual basis and not in a “class or representative action”.
This has irked many gamers aghast at having to relinquish their rights in order to play games on the popular service.
Players wishing to circumvent the new rules can do so by submitting a written declaration to Sony within 30 days of agreeing to the new terms.
It follows a widely criticised response to a recent hacking attacks on the company’s server – in which the personal details of subscribers were lost.
