'Winking' Jesus ad from Phones4U is clobbered by the ASA

The ad with Jesus winking and smiling over some ""miraculous" phone deals was"lighthearted" said the company. Now they have apologised

The print ad, by Adam & Eve London, showed Jesus winking and giving the thumbs up to Phones4U's "miraculous" deals on Samsung Galaxy Android phones. 

The ASA decided the ad was "disrespectful" to the Christian faith.   In its defence, Phones4U told the ASA the ad presented "a light-hearted, positive and contemporary image of Christianity."  However, the company later issued a statement saying it "understood and regretted" that the ad offended.
