Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Toniolo has criticised the town of Blackpool where the new series of the BBC programme will be filmed.

According to The Telegraph, Tonioli told Zoo Magazine that Blackpool would be better suited to The Inbetweeners.

He also said that he’d seen lots of programmes that involved ‘f*cked up people falling about the streets.’

Natalie Wyatt, head of VisitBlackpool defended the seaside resort to The Telegraph, stating: "Blackpool loves Strictly Come Dancing and is delighted to be hosting this year's final.

"We understand the celebrities themselves aim to reach Blackpool each year because of our wonderful ballroom and affiliation to dance.

"It's unfortunate that Mr Tonioli, a 'judge' on one of the most popular TV shows, has made a judgement about one of our most popular attractions without having experienced it for himself.

"Pleasure Beach Resort has this year invested over £10 million in a new Nickelodeon theme park, the only one of its kind in the UK.

"I cannot therefore, understand how somebody in Mr Tonioli's position is so naive as to believe everything he sees on television.

"I can assure you, he will certainly notice a difference in The Blackpool Tower this year."
