A first look development deal has been agreed between Entertainment One and Virgin’s production group, Virgin Produced.

The deal will offer eOne exclusive rights to all television programmes developed by Virgin Produced, which launched just under a year ago to support the group’s marketing platforms.

Darren Throop, CEO of eOne,said: "With a number of high-profile projects already in active development, Virgin Produced has very quickly established itself within the creative community. This deal fits perfectly with our strategy at eOne to partner with innovative content creators and the best in the business.

"Our television division continues to build worldwide recognition as one of the industry's foremost creators, producers and international distributors of high-profile television programming across all genres. We have a significant track record of attracting an impressive roster of in-demand creative partners such as John Grisham and Stephen King as well as top U.S. networks and international broadcasters. We are very proud of the fact that our indie studio, whose activities include scripted, reality, family and factual programming, is currently producing and/or airing ten projects for U.S. networks with more in development."

Sir Richard Branson added: "Virgin Produced's exciting new partnership with eOne marks the ambitious beginning into the scripted television business, similar to what has been achieved in film. Our team is smart to continue to forge studio alignments with like-minded partners who understand the brand and also to continue fostering an environment that embraces terrific talent. I am ready for some good TV!"
