Online currency specialist FairFX.com has started a Twitter-based petition to ban ‘0% commission’ adverts in the travel money sector, after a survey found 93% believe the adverts are misleading.

The Twitter campaign, which people re-tweet to sign, will be sent to the Office of Fair Trading.

Stephen Heath, FairFX CEO, said: "It seems that the lack of transparency in this marketplace has hit a nerve with consumers.

"We think the OFT should enforce the ban and provide a better system for consumers to easily compare the overall cost of travel money. At present people are clearly being swayed by the misleading headline advertising tactics adopted by many providers."

At time of writing, the petition had 202 tweets.
