Paul Taylor will step down as chief executive of Vision+Media at the end of this month as the north west support body prepares to be replaced by new national agency Creative England.

Vision+Media is one of eight Regional Screen Agencies that will be amalgamated into Creative England once the new organisation opens in Manchester on 1 October.

From that day Creative England will take over the screen agencies' duties for overseeing regional film projects funded by the British Film Institute.

But Vision+Media will continue to deliver the creative support projects it is contracted to provide for the likes of the NWDA, ERDF, Manchester Authorities and Bolton University.

Taylor stepping down will coincide with the appointment of a national chief executive for Creative England, but he will remain as a non-executive director on a streamlined Vision+Media board chaired by Mike Davis.

He will also continue to work with the Creative England board and management in an advisory capacity.

Kaye Elliott, currently director of inward investment, will take on the new role of executive director at Vision+Media.

"As with any major restructuring, it has been a difficult six months or so," Taylor said. “The starting point was obviously political changes then cost savings, but we tried throughout to ensure that in creating a new rational structure across the country, which makes sense, we don’t lose our local focus, or the legacy and assets which Vision+Media has built up. I think this partnership approach is the best way to deliver that.”

Vision+Media and Creative England will be based alongside each other at Vision+Media's offices at MediaCityUK in Salford. They will share overheads and support services and work together on future strategy.

Elliott added: "Our number one priority is to ensure that as Creative England develops, the legacy and work of Vision+Media is embedded into their policies and foundations, and the spotlight remains firmly on the region.”
