Advertising charity NABS it to team up with Manchester agency BJL to host an art auction for raise funds for the charity.

The project is similar to one which ran in Scotland earlier this year that raised around £1,500, with fifty blank canvases being sent to industry figureheads in the creative industry, including Sir John Hegarty, and Rory Sutherland, vice chairman of Ogilvy Group UK.

Bidders will then be able to purchase their works of art, raising money for the charity in the process.

Cavases have already been completed by Sir John, Flo Heiss and Russell Ramsay as well as IPA director general, Paul Bainsfair.

The auction will take place at Sam’s Chop house on 15 September between 6.30pm and 8pm.

Kate Harris, head of regional development at NABS, said: “Following a successful auction in London 10 years ago which raised £10k for NABS, we decided to run another in Edinburgh and now Manchester, as it is fast becoming the creative hub of the North.

“It’s extremely important that NABS raise enough money to continue our work supporting those in need. Calls to NABS services are at an all time high and yet it is harder than ever to raise funds.

“NABS always strives to remain as relevant as possible to the industry it represents and this event, centred around creativity, aims to showcase some of the unseen talent we have across the advertising arena.”

Nicky Unsworth, managing director at BJL and chairman of NABS, added: “We’re delighted to organise this event for NABS and bring the local industry together for a good cause. We really hope it helps to raise significant funds needed for NABS to continue their invaluable work. We look forward to welcoming guests on the evening.”
