Emap has appointed Duncan Painter as chief executive officer of the multiplatform media group, replacing David Gilbertson, who stepped down in May.

It is not known when Painter, who is currently managing director of BSkyB subsidiary Sky IQ, will start in his new role.

Irina Hemmers, chairman of Emap and a partner at joint shareholder Apax Partners, said: “Duncan has extensive experience of leading successful B2B and data companies and was the stand-out candidate for the role. The board is delighted that he will be joining Emap as chief executive officer.”
