Prime Minister David Cameron could face questions about plans that could see court rooms opened up to television audiences during sentencing within England.

The Independent reports that Cameron is ‘sympathetic’ to the idea of allowing cameras to broadcast from courts for the first time, although it could be limited to filming sentencing, along with the judge’s final remarks, and possibly also opening and closing statements by barristers.

Witnesses and jurors would not be seen on camera to protect their anonymity.

Critics of the idea has pointed to the US where some high profile cases, such as the OJ Simpson murder trial, became entertainment spectacles.
