After 16 years since it first aired on Channel 4, repeats of Friends are to come to an end on E4 this weekend.

This Sunday, 4 September, will see the final episode of the US sitcom broadcast by E4, despite many repeats through to still have attract an audience of as much as 400,000 viewers.

Repeats of Friends are expected to be replaced with repeats of more recent sitcoms such as The Big Bang Theory and The Inbetweeners across varying time slots.

The rights to broadcast the series however, have been picked up by Comedy Central in the UK, which will now have over 82 hours of content to draw from.
