Autoglass, the vehicle glass repair and replacement specialist, has created a giant 3D pothole in Trafalgar Square to highlight the dangers of potholes.

The seven by three metre painting was created by leading 3D street artist Joe Hill as part of its campaign to highlight the dangers potholes cause to UK motorists.

Research by Autoglass found that 60% of London drivers highlighted the spread of pothole damage as the most prominent issue that has changed the most on the roads since they passed their test, and eight out of ten Britons said repairing potholes and poorly-maintained roads was the top priority for road maintenance investment.

Matthew Mycock, Autoglass’ managing director, said: “We wanted to give the British public a vivid illustration of the extent of the pothole problem blighting our road networks.

“With road maintenance budgets being cut, this problem is only likely to get worse, especially in the winter months, leaving motorists vulnerable to vehicle damage and facing daily risk and inconvenience.”
