The Northern Children’s Book Festival which takes place in November will be promoted through creative activity developed by Adessi.

The Northern design consultancy was tasked with offering marketing advice in order to reinvent the image of the festival to attract families to attend.

The festival, now in its 29th year, is aiming to stand out against an increasing number of book festivals across the UK.

Mark Carton, managing director of Adessi, said NCBF decided that maximising the opportunities for people to access the festival would be one of the key aspects of this year’s campaign, making doubling the length of the Gala celebration an obvious choice.

“NCBF has always been passionate about getting young people more involved in reading and writing so we immediately knew we needed to look for ways to make even more people aware of the festival and give them the opportunity to attend,” added Carton

“After some careful research we choose Newcastle’s Benfield School as this year’s venue as it has excellent transport links and is centrally located in the region, and despite soaring costs for outgoings ticket prices are remaining at just £1 to ensure as many people as possible are able to access the event.”

Activity will including marketing and PR, while a festival website has also been developed offering ticket a ticket purchasing system and book store.
