During his keynote speech at this year’s Media Guardian Edinburgh International Television Festival, Dr Eric Schmidt is expected to promote close collaboration between Google and TV companies.

Schmidt, who will deliver this year’s McTaggart Lecture, is expected to discuss the impact that the internet can have on television audiences, says Associated Press, and the benefits it can offer for engagement.

Schmidt is the first non-broadcaster to deliver the keynote speech for the festival, which runs in Edinburgh until Sunday.

Google already has partnership deals in place with Channel 5, STV and Channel 4.
