Selfridges has retained SKV Communications to handle PR for its central Manchester, Trafford Centre and Birmingham stores.

One of SKV's "key tasks" will be to focus media attention on the opening in October of a new beauty hall at the Exchange Square store in Manchester.

As part of the pre-launch campaign a mobile Selfridges photographic and make up studio has been created in an Airstream imported from the USA.

The Airstream will be stationed throughout the city centre and will host a series of makeovers. Women will be selected as part of street casting to discover the new faces of Selfridges beauty for an autumn billboard and taxi promotional campaign.

SKV director Geraldine Vesey said: "The launch of the new beauty hall is an amazing project to work on and the SKV team are delighted to be involved.”

PR for the Trafford Centre store will concentrate on the new autumn/winter designer collections for women and the jewellery department which features collections from Thomas Sabo, Swarovski and Carat among others.

A full media relations campaign for the Birmingham store will focus on fashion and beauty, while the store's food offering will also being promoted through regional print, broadcast and online media.
