12 jobs go as The Irish Post closes

Newspaper, the Irish Post has gone into liquidation, resulting in the loss of 12 full-time jobs.

The newspaper published its final issue last week, with its owner, Thomas Crosbie Holdings, then announcing the closure of the 41-year-old loss-making title.

Chief executive officer of regional newspapers at TCH, Dan Linehan: commented: “I would like to pay tribute to the hard work and commitment of the staff at the Irish Post. They have been part of our Group for eight years and they have tried very hard to make the newspaper work. Regrettably, persistent trading losses and the current economic climate have made the title unsustainable.”

The newspaper was acquired by TCH in 2003 for £1.7m,
