MEN Media will close two of its free newspapers and relaunch another two of its weekly titles this week as it implement’s changes to its portfolio.

The media company, owned by Trinity Mirror, is set to close the Rochadale Express and Macclesfield Times, while also relaunching the North East Manchester Advertiser and the Prestwich Advertiser, which will carry cover prices for the first time.

The relaunched titles will cover the areas that the closed titles previously served, while Trinity Mirror has also made four redundancies from its Manchester commercial team, having previously informed The Drum that it was looking to make 13.

The restructure follows the news broken by The Drum last week that Trinity Mirror was to close six free-sheets in Scotland.

Trinity Mirror has previously announced cuts of £25m to be made this year after it saw a 65% fall in profits for the first half of 2011.
