Online outsourcing marketplace Freelancer.co.uk has launched a new marketing campaign entitled ‘Outsourcing for Everyone’.

Freelancer.co.uk worked with Ubiquitous, the largest black cab advertising company in the UK, to launch a campaign across 500 London taxis.

Sarah Christmas, head of marketing at Ubiquitous: “We are pleased to be working with Freelancer.co.uk, as this is a very well thought out and intelligent campaign that reaches people not only whilst they are at their desks, but also hits them when they are out and about, between meetings, at lunch or after hours.

“As we all know, freelancers work hard around the clock and are always in a working frame of mind, so what better way to reach them outside the office than a hard working medium such as taxis?”

The campaign will be supported by an online contest asking users to spot and upload photos of Freelancer.com-branded taxis to the company’s Facebook page in a bid to win a selection of prizes designed to help get them started with freelancing.

The company hopes that the move across social, digital and outdoor media will raise awareness of the impact that freelancing can have on consumers and of the numerous, yet often overlooked, advantages for cost-conscious businesses.

Saif Bonar, UK manager at Freelancer.co.uk, said: “In light of various news stories around unemployment and lack of start-up funding, we wanted to do something light-hearted that would engage and impact Londoners with a positive message – and starting with a blitz on 500 taxis was something that worked well for us in the past.

“This campaign has been carefully designed to raise awareness of our brand, as well as encouraging people in the UK to consider the option of using their skills in a new and interesting way. We are looking forward to the next tranche of activity, which will include social media and broadcast campaigns over the coming months to really hammer the message home that freelancing works.”
