Malaria No More has launched a ‘Beat the Mozzy’ campaign, made up of four animations produced by Cartoon Network UK – with the final animation going live tomorrow.

The brief for the campaign was issued by Malaria No More UK as the official charity partner for the Promax UK Charity Challenge 2010. It called for an innovative, mass campaign to drive UK public awareness about the scale of malaria, its preventable nature and to inspire engagement and support for Malaria No More UK.

The campaign by Cartoon Network UK is made up of four animations featuring Ziii the mosquito, who is constantly being foiled in her plans to suck blood.

Arabella Gilchrist, director of communications at Malaria No More UK, said: “Our job is to promote the historic opportunity to end deaths from malaria in an engaging and innovative way. We’re delighted with Cartoon Network’s imaginative response to our brief and we think Ziii’s got stacks of potential to inspire our younger, mass target audience to get involved”.

The Beat the Mozzy animations are hosted on Malaria No More’s Facebook page, as well as being aired on Turner Broadcasting’s CNN and Adult Swim websites.

Nick Hart, head of corporate social responsibility for Turner Broadcasting, said: “We give all our staff volunteer time and this campaign for Malaria No More UK is a great example of leveraging our skills within the business to help a charity achieve its aims. In order to drive maximum campaign awareness, we are also supporting this activity by creating print and online ads which will feature in national press and across our network”.

Beat The Mozzy is also being promoted using targeted social media drive led by Grape Digital, focusing on Facebook using a bespoke app to encourage people to get involved, ‘like’ Malaria No More UK and share the campaign.
