Paid-for online content strategy expected from Trinity Mirror

Trinity Mirror is expected to implement a paid-for-content system later this year, after chief executive Sly Bailey told analysts that revenue would be also driven through content.

According to Paidcontent, Bailey told analysts to ‘expect significant developments’ to the Mirror’s website and that of its football site in the Autumn.

She also added that while the MirrorFootball app is free-to-download, it will generate revenue through both content and advertising.

In reporting a 65% fall in profits for the first six months of the year last week, the company also said that its digital revenue had grown by 4.4% during the same time period.

Meanwhile, the NUJ has called for talks with Trinity Mirror over its plans to implement £25m worth of cost cuts.
