On a rather wet football pitch yesterday, ten people with the gift of the gab fought for the honour of the Capital FM Challenge Cup at the Lucozade Powerleague in Portobello.

It was Capital FM radio presenters versus The Stand Comedy Club comedians in the five aside game, which ended with the Capital FM team winning 20-15.

Des Clarke, team captain for capital FM, said: “The weather conditions were appalling and we were lashed by wind and rain but we still managed to record what can only be described as a comedy result! None of us could stop scoring!

“I think we did well to turn out never mind score so much! We are now hoping to make the match an annual event so it will be a focal point of the station’s coverage of The Fringe.”
