ABCs: Sales surge for Sunday tabloids following NotW closure
The News of the World's demise has led to a dramatic surge in circulations for the remaining Sunday tabloids, according to the audited sales figures for July.
The Daily Star Sunday's circulation shot up a massive 130 percent compared to June, jumping from 305,978 to 703,631, a 90 percent rise on the same time last year.
Another big winner was the Sunday Mirror, up 55% year on year. It went from selling 1,087,796 copies in June to 1,786,454 in July, a 64 percent leap.
The People's sales were up 49% on last year and 70% month on month - it sold 474.549 copies in June compared to 806,544 in July.
Middle market titles also enjoyed a sales boost. The Sunday Express was up 20 percent month on month, from 539,478 to 648,806 while The Mail on Sunday saw a 17 percent month on month rise from 1,927,791 to 2,555,399.
