Sky News is tonight going to hold a debate on the riots which are taking place across England.

‘Why are they rioting?’, hosted and chaired by Colin Brazier, will be aired at 8pm for an hour.

The debate will be sectioned in three parts: why are they rioting, who do we blame, and what can we do about it?

The programme will open with Sky News’ international correspondent, Emma Hurd, who has come back to the UK after 10 years to deliver a special report on the rioting that has taken place regionally.

Viewers will be able to answer a poll online on if they think the rioters are protesting or greedy. Results of the vote will be on screen throughout the programme so that the viewers can see if there is a change in opinion throughout the show.

John Ryley, head of Sky News, said: “We have seen an extraordinary outburst of violence in London and other cities across England. This debate will look at getting to the bottom of what's caused the unrest and no doubt bring up the questions many people want answered.”

BBC has also announced that it will hold debates on the rioting, with Question Time being brought back from its holiday specially.
