A street art campaign has been launched on Britain’s riot ravaged thoroughfares to celebrate the forthcoming release of simian sci-fi flick, ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’.

Promoting the screen bound monkey business set to take place from August 11, ideas agency Beatwax are throwing down the gauntlet to British street artists to visualise the theme of intelligent apes.

Under the slogan “Evolution becomes Revolution” the campaign takes inspiration from anti-establishment sloganeering and graffiti which historically appears on city streets as herald to pending revolution – the writing being literally on the wall.

To instil the perception of an imminent ape uprising some of the UK’s top street artists have been employed in cities including Brighton, Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester and London.

Artists in other cities are being actively encouraged to join in the guerrilla marketing campaign.
