Twitter users across London are fighting back against the rioting that has taken place over the last two days, through an organised campaign to help clean up the mess.

A Twitter campaign, London Clean Up has begun(@Riotcleanup) with users discussing where and when to meet at different locations affected by the riots, in order to clear up the devastation left behind.

A timeline of clean-ups at differing locations is currently being co-ordinated through the microblogging site by its users.

The campaign already has nearly 10,000 followers just hours after it begun.

The launch of the campaign follows claims that Twitter is at the centre of organising the rioting, although Blackberry use has also been blamed.

Twitter users are now being warned to turn off their locations through the site, which are thought to be attracting rioters.

Questions have also been asked about police training to use social media as a result of the response to the riots.
