It has been announced that the Exeter Express & Echo will switch from a daily publication to a weekly publication next month.

The last daily edition will be released on 2 September, with a 200 page newspaper being released weekly after this.

This is the third Northcliffe Media title to do this, with Torquay Herald Express and Scunthorpe Telegraph changes having already been announced. The first weekly edition on the Scunthorpe Telegraph is due out later this month.

Steve Auckland, managing director of Northcliffe Media told the Press Gazette that Northcliffe needed to “adapt to changes in the market in order to survive and prosper”.

He added: “We are committed to giving the Express & Echo’s readers real quality and value for money - the new weekly edition of the paper will deliver on both.”

Andrew Blair, regional managing director, suggested that the switch would be better for advertisers as it would reach a larger market.
