Three marketing consultancies, Tangerine PR, Juice Digital and Manchester SEO company the EWord are to collaborate with Gateley LLP to provide crisis management services for brands.

The joint initiative ‘Mayday Mayday’ will offer companies reputation management through the internet during any crisis they may face, launched after the companies said that they spotted the need for the service across varying expertise.

Sandy Lindsay, group managing director of Tangerine PR, commented: “To be effective companies need a team with sophisticated traditional PR skills, adept at the management of online media, bloggers and social networks, up to the minute legal expertise and the ability to nullify negative effects on search engines,” said Sandy Lindsay, group MD, Tangerine PR.

Steve Kuncewicz, Intellectual Property & Media lawyer, and author of the book: ‘Legal Issues of Corporate Communication in an Online World’ explained the legal aspect of Mayday Mayday: “The law can never evolve at the same rate as technology and media. It is therefore always playing catch up with its applicability to new channels and situations so it’s important to work with a specialist in this sector and build a relationship with a legal advisor who understands these channels.”

Al Mackin, managing director of theEword concluded: “Online and social media comments, unlike ‘traditional media’ are not ‘tomorrow’s fish and chip wrappers’, but can exist in perpetuity and have a very damaging impact on a company’s first impression which, today, is often a search engine. The impact on a company’s online presence in global search engines can cause huge, ongoing damage to reputation...not to mention sales.”

The service will be a ‘pay as you go’ on for clients in the midst of a crisis. With crisis auditing, planning, monitoring (media and online) and coaching also available.
