Skype has pulled its iPad app only hours after it was released, saying that it went live prematurely.

It has been said that the app initially worked on both 3G and Wi-Fi connections before it was removed.

Skype apologised for the mistake over Twitter, saying “To ensure your best Skype experience, we've temporarily removed Skype for iPad which went live prematurely today.

“We know you've been eagerly awaiting Skype for iPad and apologize for the inconvenience.”

No reason was given to why the app accidentally went live, or what needs to be fixed.
