Wow Stuff has decided it increase its advertising spend this year, following the success of a TV campaign last Christmas.

The first toy to be advertised will be Air Swimmers, five-foot long, inflatable, radio controlled flying Shark and Clown Fish, with adverts to begin next month.

It will be followed by the My Keepon robot, which has already appeared on YouTube.

The decision to up the spending on TV advertising followed the success of Dave, the Funky Shoulder Monkey.

Richard North, MD, told ToyNews: “Fittingly both products are living up to our aim in creating toys with a wow-factor, as they both made Hamleys own top ten Wow toys for Christmas.

“Last Christmas we put Dave on TV and he sold nearly 300,000 units in less than ten weeks. That was our first foray into TV advertising and it's really opened our eyes. We've increased spend by 50 per cent for both Air Swimmers and My Keepon so we can ensure they are on the Christmas 'must have' lists of kids up and down the country.”
