Getty Images has today announced the launch of Flickr Select, a new collection that represents the best of Getty Images’ Flickr artists.
There is currently about 5,700 images available on the website, with additional content to be added on a monthly basis.
It has been said that content will be chosen by Getty Images’ editors based on their expertise in licensing digital content and insights into customers’ visual communication needs.
Andrew Saunders, vice president of creative imagery at Getty Images said: “The crowd-sourced nature of Flickr means that we’re seeing all aspects of life documented and reflected.
“What sets Flickr Select apart are one-of-a-kind pictures hand-picked by our editors and art directors that illustrates life as it’s being lived – real moments captured by everyday people.
“Quality content is the cornerstone of great communication and consumer culture is becoming less passive and more participatory. Consumers now regularly expect to be the producers of the media that they consume, and Flickr allows them to do so.”
