Trinity Mirror confirms review of editorial procedures
Trinity Mirror has confirmed that it is reviewing its editorial controls and procedures as claims of phone hacking practices begin to circulate the publisher’s newspapers.
The publisher has confirmed to The Drum that it has begun a review of the editorial procedures by the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mail, the Daily Record, Sunday People and Sunday Mirror to ensure that the allegations faced by the News of the World do not impact upon its own titles.
A Trinity Mirror spokesman said: “We can confirm that we’re conducting a review of editorial controls and procedures.”
The Financial Times reports that a senior employee of Trinity Mirror had leaked the checks taking place following claims made by former Daily Mirror journalists James Hipwell, who said that reporters were regularly engaged in hacking phones.
The publisher has denied the allegations however.
