News Corporation has been attempting to dissolve some of its UK companies, while forming new ones to protect the News of the World brand following the newspaper's closure earlier this month.

According to the a report by Marketing Services Financial Intelligence, News Corporation has been attempting to dissolve the parent company of its UK newspaper publishing subsidiary News International Publishers – which continues to publish The Times, The Sun and The Sunday Times.

An application is said to have been made and then withdrawn, to dissolve News Group Newspapers.

The company is also thought to have registered new titles including News of the World Publications, News of the World Online, News of the World Media and News of the World Newspapers in an effort to protect the News of the World title.

All were registered on 11 and 12 July.

It is thought that a consortium may attempt to buy the News of the World brand in order to revive it, while the rumored replacement title The Sun on Sunday has been registered on Companies House also.
