Picture agency buys Los Angeles-based Splash news agency

Splash – the US-based news agency founded by two former British tabloid journalists– has been bought by picture agency Corbis images.

According to Press Gazette, picture agency Corbis has bought Splash for an undisclosed fee.

Gary Morgan and Kevin Smith founded Splash in 1990 in Los Angeles. The agency now has other offices across the globe alongside a network of 3000 contributors

Gary Shenk, chief executive of Corbis, said; "With the addition of Splash, Corbis will provide our customers the most comprehensive, unique and differentiated offering in the high-growth entertainment sector - from candid celebrity to high-end portraiture to motion.
