Mel Exon, Sid McGrath and Dylan Williams have joined the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) strategy group.

The IPA strategy group works primarily for those in strategy and account planning and is responsible for building stronger connections with the strategy community, promoting best practice and stimulating debate. The remit of the group is to improve the quality and perceived value of strategic brand advice within the industry.

Exon is a managing partner of BBH; McGrath is CSO and partner at Karmarama; and Williams is a partner at Mother.

Amelia Torode, chairman of the IPA's strategy group and head of strategy and innovation at VCCP, said: “The IPA Strategy Group already has some of the brightest and most inspiring thinkers from advertising, media and digital.

“The addition of Mel, Dylan and Sid adds a new dimension and I am hugely excited about working with them and the rest of the Group to further develop our agenda. The recently launched Fast Strategy iPhone and iPad app reached number six in the download chart and we are looking at its next iteration.

“We have also been talking to every head of planning within IPA membership to understand the modern brief and briefing process and we will be developing practical tools and ideas for immersive, multi-platform creative campaigns. Dylan, Mel and Sid's expertise will be invaluable.”

Meanwhile the IPA has also announced the appointment of Mike Leeson, managing director of Golley Slater as honorary secretary.
