Labour spent over £11 million advertising in News of the World in its last five years in administration, it has been revealed.

The figures were publicised following a written question from Liberal Democrat MP Stephen Williams to Cabinet Office Minister Francis Maude.

Since 2010, the coalition has spent £136,000 on advertising in the now-closed Sunday newspaper. The Government said that they did not spend any money advertising in the newspaper after hacking allegations were revealed.
