The Criminal Bar Association (CBA) has appointed TLG to help improve the image of the profession.

The profession has been hit by government cuts and a bad portrayal in several TV shows, including Silks, which tend to portray criminal lawyers as having drink or drug problems.

Jonathan Oliver, TLG’s Director of Media relations, will lead the account which covers both media relations and public affairs. Previously, the account was held by Weber Shandwick.

Oliver said: “The reality is that criminal barristers are incredibly hard working public servants with a passion for justice and a progressive view of the world.

“I am excited to be starting work with such an admirable and under-appreciated group of people.”
