Retailer JD Williams has commissioned mobile commerce company Starfish 360 to help develop the company’s m-commerce strategy.

Starfish 360 has been asked to work with JD Williams to explore the retailer’s future m-commerce offering to the UK’s 20 million mobile internet users. Nearly half of the company’s current business is currently coming through e-commerce.

John Hinchcliffe, marketing director at JD Williams, said: “It’s good to be working with Starfish 360 and at such an exciting time for our business. We’re looking forward to the delivery of an m-commerce strategy that enhances our excellent customer service and is integrated with our future plans for the customer’s experience, including our new high street stores.”

Chris Brassington, CEO for Starfish 360, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be working with such a hugely successful multi-channel retailer as JD Williams. Its customer focused culture and tailored offering to niche shoppers fits perfectly with an integrated m-commerce approach.

“The seismic shift in consumer behaviour due to mobile technology has got everyone scrabbling to react, which leads to basic mistakes. The forward thinking approach is to step back, look at your business, look at your customer, and go from there.

“You have to start from a business perspective with a customer led m-commerce offering that is then supported by the technology. Assess the whole business and market, analyse your customer behaviour, which will then define the mobile strategy.”
